big - who are we?
The Bioenergy Interest Group (BIG) is one of 4 Interest Groups established by the Bioenergy Association of New Zealand (BANZ).
BANZ was established to promote and coordinate the development of a bioenergy industry in New Zealand. BANZ provides a central focus point for liaison with Government agencies, the dessemination of information amongst the industry and long-term positioning of bioenergy into New Zealand's energy system.
Members of BANZ include anyone with a commercial interest in bioenergy - sawmillers, wood processors, energy suppliers, energy researchers, consultants, manufacturers, investors, waste/resource producers, equipment suppliers, and government officials.

The Biogas Interest Group has a Committee and a Convener. The Group Convener sits on the BANZ Board.
big - goal and objectives
BIG Goal - To ensure biogas becomes a sustainable alternative to natural gas and that the industry develops efficient, safe and socially and environmentally acceptable practices.
BIG Objectives - The objects of the Biogas Interest Group are:-
- to foster the development of biogas initiatives;
- to gain and share knowledge;
- to educate the public of New Zealand;
- to lobby for government support;
- to advise on legislation.

The Biogas Interest Group currently has around 35 Members.
Membership of the Bioenergy Association (BANZ) enables access to the activities of the Biogas Interest Group (depending on the class of Membership).
If you are a BANZ 'Individual' member, an additional fee is payable for Membership of the Interest Group.
If you hold a BANZ Associate or Corporate Membership you are entitled to Membership of one or two (respectively) of the BANZ Interest Groups.
